Much of the jabber server design changed from 1.0 to 1.2, and in the
long run reverting back to 1.0 for SSL support is probably not a good
idea.  (Although, I don't know what your needs are, so this may not be
true in your particular case.)  I suggest trying stunnel
[www.stunnel.org], the "universal SSL wrapper" until a  more "official"
solution is derived.
