no, this is not possible.. the groupchat that you see on conference.jabber.org for
example is what we call PrivateChat,  meaning that people who wish to hold a 
conference can get togheter, decide on a room, and have their meeting.

there is no way to search for groups -- on purpose.  (i really wouldn't want
someone who i don't know coming into one of my private meetings)

and there are no IRC controls (op/kick/ban) becuase they are not needed in a 
private chat scenario.

privatechat is labeld in the agent list with a <service>privatechat</service>
we hope to have other types of chat, like a public chat -- probably web based
that will do what you want.
