[JDEV] Integration questions, looking for guidance

Hi All,

We are currently building an integrated community solution (news,
discussion, chat etc) that will shortly be available under some form of
open license structure. The whole architecture is build from open source
components (Apache, Jboss, Postgres).  Core of the architecture is a XML
aware EJB layer.

The thing we are struggling with is "what approach to take when
integrating Jabber into this architecture).

We are struggling with two options:

1. Create an ODBC link between Jabber load (uh the xdb part) module and
our database

2. Create a XML based exchange between our EJB layer and the jabber load
module (xdb part again).

Any guidance is welcomed.
