[JDEV] client libraries

I want to build a jabber client for QNX, a *nix-like OS that lacks a
decent C++ compiler.  What library can I use for this?  I found
reference to a libjnix, but I have been told that it is out of date and
unsupported.  The API to it seemed nice to work with, but since I can't
find the souce that implemented, I don't know how well/poor it
work(s|ed).  Some clients seem to use libjabber, but this seems a bit
low-level.  Please let me know if such a thing exists, and where I can
get it, if it does.  Thanks in advance.
