   Well, no one knows about 'our article' quite yet, but several of us on the 
variouse teams have written an article about a 'new way' of looking at Instant 
Messaging.  I believe Eliot will be releasing it in a few days.  In the 
process, I found another article that is remarkably simular in some of it's 
points, located at http://www.byte.com/column/BYT19991111S0010 and brings up 
many of the points we where talking about, please, give it a read.
