For those of you interested I have posted a VERY PRELIMINARY version of 
Jabber for MacOS.  It does almost nothing.  But I have made the source
available to anyone who wants to help.  I'll start to modularize things this
week-end and make the prefs reading and writing a lot better.  Be gentile.
