I'm not so sure about this.. I could be wrong (I have no clue, really), but
I happen to know the guy who's doing BeAIM (http://www.bebits.com/app/1) and
it still works fine. Also, BeAIM uses the Oscar protocol and reports itself
as "BeAIM" and not as the Windows client. They haven't blocked it. And I
highly doubt he has the same "buffer bug".
Just my $0.02.
(Also, if anyone is looking for protocol stuff for AIM to write a transport,
you should give Greg an e-mail. He probably has one of the most
feature-rich AIM implementations out there. And once the next version of
BeAIM is released, it will have even more.)
(Oh, and since a lot of you folks probably care about such things, source is
out there. :-))
