[JDEV] Simple (I hope) questions

I've looked over the site information quite a bit, but seem to be unable
to find anything on the following:
   How/if Jabber currently understands / is planned for HTTPS firewall
service as well as socks? Biggest problem I know of is nearly all IM
clients except for Tik seem not to understand HTTPS, and most of the
ISP's in the area I'm in are moving to HTTPS to protect their services.

   Is anyone working on a protocol to talk to Yahoo messanger as well as
AIM and ICQ?? Or MS IM client as well???
