Well, they are really just a way for any given developer to express
interest in a team to the team administrators. There is no functional
difference in what you choose besides what the team administrators see.
I would say that "Supporter" is expressing that you support the efforts of
the team but don't have the time/talent to invest into helping with it
directly, and "Team" is expressing that you want to really get involved.
At one point I was going to have "Contributor" be something assigned by
team administrators automatically to anyone that contributes patches, but
anyone can use it to just express that they want to contribute in some
way.
